Corning Named Diversity Leader by Journal

Corning recently received another recognition for its successful diversity and inclusion program.

The company was named a recipient of the Diversity Leader Award by Profiles in Diversity Journal, a quarterly business-to-business magazine focusing on diversity and inclusion. The award, in its 11th year, is given to organizations that demonstrate a commitment to expanding and improving diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace and beyond.

“This recognition affirms we’re continuing in a positive direction in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment,” said Monica Bankston, Global Diversity and Inclusion officer, who was named Corning’s diversity champion as part of the award. “It’s integral we strive for excellence in these areas to ensure every employee feels represented and included, and that they have the tools and support to reach their highest potential.”

Corning was among 24 winners that include real estate firms, insurance companies, medical centers, restaurant chains, retailers, technology companies, and law firms. The businesses will be recognized in the Journal’s upcoming issue (winter 2018-2019).

According to a news release from the Journal, the winners “demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace, and have developed comprehensive strategies that permeate all levels, departments, and divisions. They work to understand the needs of their employees, reach out to diverse vendors, and serve their communities, while meeting the demands of today’s evolving business environment.”

Corning’s Diversity and Inclusion program has received several awards and recognitions in recent years. Those include “Best Places to Work” by the Human Rights Campaign, a Top Supporter of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and a member of the “Best-of-the-Best” list by the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
