The University of Liège in Belgium recently established a Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactor (AFR) qualified lab at its Center for Integrated Technology and Organic Synthesis (CiTOS). Using AFR technology, the lab provides customers with continuous-flow demonstrations, experimental trials, feasibility testing, and chemical reaction process development.
This is the first qualified lab in Europe to offer AFR testing and process development services. Corning also has AFR-qualified labs in the United States and China. The lab at CiTOS is in close proximity to European customers and enables them to utilize Corning Advanced-Flow reactors.

CiTOS specializes in continuous-flow organic chemistry and provides expertise to its customers to perform safe, complex, multi-step sequences; scale up; and fast lab-to-market transitions.

Corning’s Lab Reactor system, Photo reactor and Low-Flow reactors are available in the CiTOS lab to implement process development and identify appropriate processes that can be easily, safely, and seamlessly transferred to industrial production.
Corning’s AFR technology enables the continuous processing of chemicals with a smaller footprint than conventional batch reactors. They are also specially designed to enable the conversion of batch chemical processes to continuous processes. Corning’s reactors provide customers with cost-effective solutions, specialized engineering support, and process expertise.
Compared with traditional batch reactors, Corning’s reactors can enable at least 100 times enhancement in mixing, 1,000 times improvement in heat transfer performance, and seamless, efficient scale-up from the lab to full-scale production of chemicals for the pharmaceutical, specialty, and fine chemical industries.
